CODE OF ETHICS

The Old English Sheepdog Club of Greater Seattle (OESCGS) invites you to join our organization. Our founding members (some of which are still active) established our not-for-profit club in 1968 to preserve, protect, and promote the advancement and proper breeding and showing of the Old English Sheepdog as well as establishing ethical practices as set forth in our Code of Ethics.

At this time, we are the largest local OES breed club in the United States with about 165 members throughout the United States, Canada, and several European countries. We are also a member of the American Kennel Club (AKC). Our parent club is the Old English Sheepdog Club of America (OESCA).

Some of our members are very active and participate in all the activities offered by the club. Some live in other states and countries, and some local members come only to those functions of interest to them. All members receive our bi-monthly 40-page newsletter, the "Raggedy Ramblings". The purpose of the newsletter is to communicate all club activities and Board of Director decisions to the membership -- along with providing information to help you successfully raise and care for your OES. All members are invited to attend Board meetings, club meetings, lectures, demonstrations, sporting events, and other fun events.

If you would like to join our efforts to preserve, promote, protect, and care for our breed, please read our Code of Ethics and complete the Membership Application. Our membership categories include:
Single membership (one person, one vote) $20.00
Household membership (two people, two votes) $25.00 per year
Junior Membership (12 to 18 years of age, non-voting) $12.00 per year

We ask you to sign your agreement and compliance with the terms in our Code of Ethics. While these rules are primarily directed at breeders, they should be followed by anyone concerned with the health and well-being of their Old English Sheepdog.

You are required to obtain the sponsorship of two current club members. If you don't know any of our members, please contact Bette Miller, our Membership Chair, to obtain your sponsors. Please return your signed Membership Application and fee to our Membership Chair.

We look forward to seeing you at our club activities. We always enjoy hearing new member's stories about their wonderful OES. Please join in our camaraderie. As you can see on our website, we sponsor many yearly events which include your sheepdogs in the fun!
